Diana Beach Batarseh has put all of the children's catechism questions into song form. My children are 7, 5, 3, and 7 months, and every morning we read the catechism question and then listen to the song. I wrote a full blog post reviewing it over on reformedmama. I had a friend tell me about this album several months ago so I decided to check it out. When people tell me that they don't know about these songs but taught the catechism or are trying to, I'm always shocked! So nice to have that consistency as we move on with the questions! This is a great way to help young children memorize general Biblical truths.
My family loves this album! If you want to get the catechism into your home or car or wherever , this is the first and must have. Then at the end some of the proof texts are read by children. Having resources like this that you can listen to after a hard day at work or after a long night where the baby was up nursing every two hours can help re-orient everyone back to life-giving truths regardless of how tired and frustrated we may be. I have frequently heard my children singing these songs to themselves while playing or wandering around the house and it makes my heart smile. I think that the truths in the catechism will help my daughter form a strong Biblical worldview. I was actually so surprised that so many families in my church and friends had not heard of this album that I decided to start a blog to show how we use the catechism and recommend resources that we love with others since they can be hard to find!. I love that they made the investment to do all the questions over three albums. Ask Me WhoOo was conceived in 2004 and has developed into a 3-volume series. She is a national and international retreat and conference speaker and trainer in the areas of parenting, classroom management, discipline and on the subject of belovedness - understanding what it means to live as the beloved of Christ. It is the most comprehensive and matches the wording and order of questions exactly as in the versions I've been linking most often on this site.
Each track has one to three questions, so that they can be repeated, especially some of the shorter answers. It is hard work parenting little kids. . . . .
