Hail to the Thief's artwork was created by longtime Radiohead collaborator. The album Jaydiohead has been called an internet sensation. The song may not actually be about this, but to me it is, and it helps me to think it is. And, before we actually hit the snowdrift, as we flew along, the snow would fall from the branches, you know. So everything was about performance, like staging a play.
Find me an example of when I was being pretentious. In 2008, Yorke posted an alternative, shorter track list on Radiohead's website. What I was doing was stealing it back. He took words and phrases from discussion of the unfolding and used them in the album's lyrics and artwork. We wanted to do things quickly, and I think the songs suffered. He felt the political lyrics and bleak mood put Radiohead in danger of self-parody. Due to copyright infringement issues, similar to the release of most mashups, the songs were offered free of charge from the official website, and no legal action has been taken against Tannone. I mean, we don't do live drums. And I guess that's what happened with it, really. I am an ex-addict, heroin nearly killed me, it did kill 5 of my friends. Yorke's voice, heavily manipulated on Kid A and Amnesiac, returned to the front of the music undisguised. The only problem is that his conscience gives him away. Yorke was forced to write lyrics differently, as he did not have time to rewrite them in the studio; for some songs, he returned to the method of he had employed for Kid A and Amnesiac. Work we've not finished, being released in this sloppy way, ten weeks before the real version is even available. There's really a lot of very good music to go through, which is a great feeling.
It was the most beautiful thing we had never seen. This one was a bunch of samples kicking around for years, that I didn't know what to do with. Anyway, this song is great but the outro is a little too long I think, but other than that I like the kind of Kraftwerky drums that happen during the outro and the weird guitar work by Jonny is super cool. We were stuck in a snowdrift in Japan. We all got excited at the end because Nigel was trying to get Jonny to play like John McGeoch in Siouxsie and the Banshees.
