Even though she tries to keep to herself so as not to endanger anyone else, she somehow manages to accumulate a fiercely protective group of friends. As she starts to feel a connection with the souls of the book you travel to different locations telepathically. It gives you a magnifying glass of which I was unable to get to work at all. But the Christmas Killer made a mistake, and McLean put an end to the brutal killing spree. What a perfect combination of modern day life and mythology, all brought together with some great writing and imagery.
All they required was a personal relationship with God. I'm not wasting my time or yours rehashing the book like countless other reviewers have done. They make her question and doubt her sanity making you want to find out if this is all in her head, or if it is truly happening. What made things worse in my case, I think, is that I had really enjoyed Gordon Ferris', Adrian McKinty's, Brian McGilloway's series and these books were excellent reads. This includes the murder of her parents a year before the story begins.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read with a good plot and twists along the way, written in a good style and captures the reader. I loved Nisha's character and really felt for her when she was being bullied. I'd love to punch his boss, but McLean himself manages to get in some excellent Don't expect to be warmed or soothed by the Inspector McLean stories. Rankin's books, especially the early ones, overflow with the urgency of a story that must be told, and treat their reader with intelligence. A pop-flirting, synth-swirling pickup along the journey gives the composition its verve. Some trimming and story edits would go along way for this book, along with renaming Shaggy and Scooby. Lots of great threads running together.
I thought that the story was really interesting. I didn't know Will Piper would be the centre of the story again, I though he served well as an introduction to the world in the first one. Instead of just saying I wish for an invisibility cloak where most readers would understand the reference , it was flat out called Harry Potter's invisibility cloak. Wonder if it will be like yesterday, when the temperature rose to 21C 25C in the car by lunchtime. The sword was fueled by taking souls of those its enemies, the sword itself was forged in the fires of by Anubis, the names of those killed by the sword where forever written in the Book of Souls.
I did not have to use the lantern or the maginafing glass at all. The names of some of the characters were a little over the top and ridiculous. The bad boy image given to Blaze wasn't at all endearing. I'm looking forward to reading the third book in this series! They are immediately drawn to one another, but Nisha is determined to protect him from her curse.
