Eat and Run: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness

I have goal set now after reading this book. I was too busy puking, then watching the stream of liquid evaporate in the circle of light from my headlamp almost as fast as it splashed down on the steaming pavement. But that was just a story, right? I was used to trails that caused deer to stumble and falter. As a runner and a vegan myself, this spoke to me on those basic levels but this again was so much more. But the book is about much more than ultra adventures; it is about how Karnazes used ultrarunning as an avenue for change at time when his life was at risk of falling apart.

Each story is followed up with a bit of sage advice for inspiring runners and a delicious plant-based recipe. I, for one, could have used less of the puking and bodily malfunctions why are readers interested in this? Jurek comes to understand that winning isn't everything. And I totally respect him for that. Nothing brought the rewards of moving, of running. My body was burning up.

I wanted to like this book, but found it just okay. However, I'm looking forward to checking them out with a paper copy from the library.
