Everything was so much simpler. But as a young woman, who could get married and have her own family in the future, I just couldn't imagine enough how hard it must have gotten for both Francesca and Michael Julia Quinn did write about their hardship, but I think in reality, it could be worse, especially when we take into consideration that the Bridgertons always reproduced easily and had as many children as they wished. It was only a fraction of what he felt on a day-to-day basis, after all. But after reading her story Δεύτερη ανάγνωση και οφείλω να παραδεχτώ πως το λάτρεψα για ακόμα μια φορά! But Michael, oh, the poor man! However, this book remains one of the best Regency romances on my shelf, and I highly recommend it. He's a coward at times, running away from his feelings and his responsibilities when he inherits the earldom upon his cousin's death, and to be honest, I wanted to smack him repeatedly, particularly towards the end of the book, when he starts acting like a patronizing asshole towards Francesca. Or maybe it was just that he knew how blue they were. And I can't read them back to back. She is the matriarch of the Bridgerton clan, mother to eight young children, and it is she in whom Francesca turns to for advice and comfort at her own loss. He reminded me of Sebastian St. But I gotta tell you, I loved this anyways and never felt I was lost or not privy to previous developments.
But then who can possibly predict what attracts one person to another or claims to know the great, elusive mystery that is love, anyway? A moment so tremendous, so sharp and breathtaking, that one knows one's life will never be the same.
When He Was Wicked is the story of Michael Stirling, Rake Extraordinaire My Review: This, the 6th installment of the Bridgerton series, is so different from the rest of the stories that it took me by surprise — a pleasant surprise. Now Michael is the earl and Francesca is free, but still she thinks of him as nothing other than her dear friend and confidant. A moment so tremendous, so sharp and breathtaking, that one knows one's life will never be the same. Francesca was kind of the black sheep of the family, both in personality she was definitely an introvert and in that her husband, who she loved a great deal, died when she was only 22. Michael dares not speak to her of his love. A solid 5 star read and a more-than-deserved spot on my favorites shelf.
Michael was certain of that. The ending however let me down, first with Francesca's silly behavior and secondly, because I realised that in the end I didn't know her very well. The emotion in the early portion of the book, when she's with John and immediately following his death, is strong and affecting, but after that it just sort of flounders and never really picks up again.
